Volunteer Interest

To make this event a success, we need our amazing volunteers to assist with teaching safe biking practices and helmet fittings. Your participation will help ensure a safe and fun experience for all participants! 

Education Support Needed:

• Provide guidance on bike and road safety.
• Support operations throughout the day

Helmet Fitters Needed: 

• Provide guidance on helmet safety and usage and ensure each child leaves with a correctly fitted helmet
• You must have active helmet fitter certification to volunteer for this role.

Volunteers are welcome to sign up for multiple shifts!

We kindly request a 2-hour minimum commitment and appreciate any time you can contribute. Materials will be provided on the day of the event.

We are looking for helmet fitting volunteers for the Three Kings Day Bike Giveaway.

Volunteer Responsibilities:

• Properly fit helmets on children aged 6-12
  • Must be a certified helmet fitter.

The Jordan Smelski Foundation opens Jordan's Sporting Goods Store every December to provide free sporting goods equipment to families in need. Any child that comes into the store will receive one ticket good for any new, or used, piece of sporting equipment, or a used bike. Every item is free, while supplies last.

While the event runs from 8am-5pm, bikes are usually first picks and run out by 2pm. We need volunteers to assist mainly with the morning rush!

We will be inside the school gym-- be prepared for a busy day on your feet where we will fit up to 800 helmets in one day!

Refreshments will be provided to volunteers.

• Bike/Walk Central Florida is holding a high-visibility sign-waving campaign at the crosswalk of NW 16th Ave. & NW 12th St. to bring awareness to the driver yield rate at the intersection. Staff, volunteers, and partners will line the road with signs to capture the attention of drivers passing through. The event will take place from 9:00 - 10:30AM at the crosswalk.
